Thing 11: Shake that LibraryThing!

What fun! I meant to spend just a little time, but got caught up in trying to recall what's on my shelves at home. This is just a sampling of the first books that came to mind:

I can see that LibraryThing has many applications. Someday when I have copious free time (when does that ever happen?) I might just sit down and catalog all the books in the house. Or maybe just my daughter's books. Hmmm. Or the DVD collection... Does LibraryThing do DVDs? Just looked into it; alas, no DVDs in the LibraryThing library...

A colleague who's been maintaining a localized picture book index here at our branch suggested LibraryThing would be a great way to give all the librarians in the system access to our picture book subject index. Too bad you have to pay to add in more than 200 titles. Still, a great tool!

Thing 10: Fun with Image Generators

I've had some experience with making an avatar in my Yahoo! account, but had not heard of Meez and some of the other online generators. Here's a manga-style avatar I made at manga.com's website.

I checked out some other sites and found LetterJames to be a lot of fun. If I could come up with funny captions, the lolcats generator would be another great way to noodle around and have fun with the internet.
